3G card for Dell 5530

Little photo revealing where to insert the 3G and SIM cards in a Dell 5530. Get rid of the battery to place the SIM card. Insert the 3G card below the laptop, beside the wifi card and link the 2 of the 4 antenna wires. However, wait, I had only 3 antenna wires in this model! So I had to pick in between wifi and 3G … (and later, change the notebook)

Stiúidió Sealadach Podchraoltóireachta

My temporary podcasting kit is proving to be very appealing in regards to convenience and portability. Microphone, mini-disc recorder and a laptop running Audacity. A 15 min podcast takes about 30 minutes to produce by doing this (leaving out research and preparation). 10 minutes recording (songs is added later), 10 minutes post-production and encoding the MP3, 10 minutes uploading, publishing to blog and updating the feed (which I do by hand).
Because I am currently without broadband in the house, I do the upload and posting from a public wifi hotspot.
What’s missing? Not much. I can’t do phone meetings with this gear. When I had my full studio setup, I pre-owneded a PC running Skype and an external noise mixer. (I probably need to buy some kind of telephone hybrid now that I no longer have broadband.) Pre-owneding a mixer enabled me to blend various other noises (such as music) in live which conserves the editing later on – but in my case, since the podcast is so brief, it’s actually quicker to import a 5 minute MP3 into Audacity than it is to sit there while it plays in genuine time!

Oh. My. God. I was simply about licking the display when this was revealed – I have actually been waiting for this for so long (and residing in the UK I’ll likely need to wait a while longer).
Movement sensors to turn the screen around, broadband wifi and widescreen video. And the most easy to use phone system I’ve ever seen. I can’t wait:-).

Year 2 ~ Day 243 +214 / 366: Lastly, at last! I have Web anywhere I go!

When I go to house or at work, I have access to high-speed Internet. 4 out of 5 journeys recently have actually been a frustration. I ‘d thought I would have access to Flickr while on these trips, and WHENEVER, something was wrong. I couldn’t upload my images while on the trip. It makes it rough to upload photos after I return house. That’s why I’m just on Day 5 of 8 days from our journey to Las Vegas. Will I ever before complete?
However now… I can plug this little gadget into my laptop computer and have high-speed Web when I’m away by utilizing our mobile phone service.
YAY! I suppose this is my birthday present! If so, it’s a good one.

SNCF “Awake” mobile indicator

On our way down I ‘d taken a picture of SNCF’s charming little sign which informs you not to utilize your mobile. Heading back up the country, I got the possibility to snap the “” awake”" version– the indicator that tells you you can use your mobile.
On this specific train all of it appeared rather pointless. A contemporary job without any windows to open and air conditioning that didn’t work effectively, the train also had no vestibules or anywhere where you could go to speak on your phone without the whole carriage hearing it. As such, the difference between mobile-friendly and mobile-free areas was rather pointless.
